My photo editing process | South Florida Family Photographer

As much as I wish I could just upload my photos and send them off to my client, some photos need a little extra TLC and my goal is to present an awesome final set of images that my client can print and enjoy. (Also: Please print your photos!)

I use Adobe Lightroom for quick edits, color enhancements and exporting. I also use Adobe Photoshop for a little more heavy duty editing such as extending backgrounds, taking out distracting objects, maybe swapping a head or two (LOL) etc.

Although I do edit every single photo for my client, I try not to make anything or anyone look unnatural or not themselves. The most I do to edit a person is remove any unwanted blemishes brighten up the eyes etc. I believe every individual is beautiful and its my job to show the that beauty through my work.

Here are some before and afters of some of my client images. Enjoy!

I extended the floor drop that I used for this image because it was a little too short to fit into the image. This baby was a dream! She slept through it all.

For this pose, I never leave baby without a helping hand from mom or dad. It’s a safety precaution and I have no problem editing their hand out in post.

Here baby is on my bean bag connected to a backdrop stand. I try to shoot a littler wider to add more space to the photo and this usually means I will catch the sides of the backdrop. I use photoshop to fill in those gaps and then clean baby’s skin a little bit.

I always try to get rid of objects that may distract from the family in the photo. So I edit out any eye sores or unnatural objects.

This image had not so nice color straight out of the camera and that little sign in background was also distracting.

This is the final image that pops with color enhancements and I got that unsightly sign out of there!

Is your newborn too 'old' for a newborn photography session?

Here I sit on a beautiful Tuesday morning drinking my tea and pondering a question that I often get from so many mommies who are interested in my services:

Is my newborn too old to do a newborn photography session?

In the several years that I have photographed newborns, it never occurred to me that a photographer would actually turn away a mom and her newborn just because her baby was over the so called age limit of two weeks. The whole purpose of a newborn shoot is to capture the little details and to document your baby while they are still so small in those first few weeks.

Although I do understand why some photographers recommend this. For example, newborns under two weeks can easily go into the more sleepy poses, they are more sleepy in general etc. However, In my experience I never had a problem getting some amazing shots of baby both in a sleepy pose and in some awake poses which are equally adorable and mommy always appreciates seeing the awake images.

I understand that taking care of newborn right after giving birth is intense and sometimes the last thing on your mind is booking a photography session. So it’s totally okay to push it off a week or two.

I happily take on baby clients as young as a few days to a few weeks to, heck, even a couple months!

Below are some sweet images of baby Yehuda, who is, wait for it, 5 weeks new!

Capturing your baby's first year

One of the most important things we do as new parents is document our baby's first year of life. Here is a session where we captured this gorgeous girl's newborn, 6 month and first year birthday session. It's amazing how much our babies change just in that first 12 months!

Ariel's newborn photo session

Don't forget to book a 6 or 9 month photo session! Your baby has developed so much and may even be reaching milestones like crawling and sitting. They are officially at that adorable baby stage right before they walk and talk.

And finally their first birthday where we celebrate 12 intense yet amazing months of your child's development. I also like to celebrate mom during this session since it is definitely a major accomplishment on her part as well.

Cohen Family at Greynolds Park - South Florida family lifestyle photographer

What a perfect evening. I had the pleasure of photographing this super fun and relaxed family, the Cohens. This was one of my favorite outdoor sessions to date. We had a blast exploring Greynolds Park, getting some great shots of the family in different scenic spots. The three kids were adorable and full of energy which made it so easy to capture their awesome personalities. I love letting children be themselves at my family sessions, it takes the pressure off of them and truly lets them express their uniqueness. I made sure to get some shots of the family dog, she has been in the family for a long time so she deserves to be apart of this memory. Greynolds is definitely one of my go-to parks when it comes to family sessions, I am able to send my families a gallery with a wide variety of photos with a different look and feel.

I hope you enjoyed these images as much as we did. Have an awesome week!
